National Forestry Week

In conjunction with West Fraser (PIR), Summit Reforestation, Office of the Wet'suwet'en, Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Northwest Fire Centre, Newpro, and Kyahwood, "walks in the Community Forest" were conducted with students from across the valley. Each school group visited 6 learning stations (pests, fire, traditional and multi-use, soils, tree planting, and forest measurements).

In addition to the field tours National Forestry Week activities included;

  • A poster contest focused on this year’s slogan “Forests for People” first prize trophy donated by Wetzin’kwa Community Forest Corp.
  • Distribution of activity packages (from colouring to crosswords), appropriate for all elementary ages distributed to participating schools with prizes donated by the sponsoring participants.
